Sol & Luna is located 1 km from the town of Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a perfect place to start your visit to Peru. The Valley is a prime cultural and adventure destination in South America.
It is home to a number of important Inca ruins including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Maras and Moray and a convenient departure point for the fabled Machu Picchu, with trains leaving daily from nearby Urubamba and Ollantaytambo stations.
The Valley is at a lower elevation than Cusco, about an hour away by car, which makes for a gentler acclimatization to the altitude. The Valley has a mild climate within a dramatic setting of mountains, valleys and meadows, well-suited for outdoor activities such as horseback riding with Peruvian Paso Horses, mountain biking, rafting, paragliding, walking and trekking. All activities are offered by Sol & Luna´s Activity Center - Viento Sur. |
Our hotel is enclosed in a red-walled courtyard surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and green mountains. We have 28 Bungalows: 23 doubles, 3 family bungalows and 2 suites.
We also have a full-size, hard surface outdoor tennis court, where you can play under the Andean sun. Our pool faces the restaurant and is surrounded by cypress trees and comfortable deck chairs, a perfect place to relax after a game of tennis, after sampling treats from the Restaurant or after a luxurious treatment in our Spa. Our Shop offers special souvenirs from the Sacred Valley, including local handmade arts and crafts and postcards

Our bungalows or Muyus are circles in the sun, with light yellow walls, red-tiled roofs, and flower-rimmed verandahs. These bungalows are literally made from elements of the earth in the Valley. All bungalows are constructed with adobe, wood, stone and clay, typical building materials for this region. We used eucalyptus and nogal from the woods and forests surrounding the Sacred Valley and stones that rolled down the mountains near the hotel. Interiors are also decorated to reflect the Andean setting, with ceramic-tiled floors, high "sombrero chino" ceilings with wooden beams, decorative bands of stone work, and assorted curios and details from local artisans who worked on all aspects of the construction. |
