The Sonesta Posada del Inca was a originally a monastery founded back in 1678. In 1870 the monastery became the property of a number of Republican families until it was bought and converted into a hotel in 1982. This hotel in Yucay is just one of a number of hotels owned by the Sonesta Posada chain, all offering good quality rooms and service.
Yucay is situated between Urubamba and Calca in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It's about 45 minutes by car from Cusco, and being nearly 1000 m lower in altitude, you'll find the climate more agreeable with more oxygen to breathe! It makes for an ideal place to get used to the altitude and is also a convenient base for visiting the villages of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and other nearby archeological and cultural places of interest.
