Adventure Activities in Peru

| Mountain Climbing: Without a doubt the best place for mountaineering in Peru is the spectacular Cordillera Blanca which is accessed from the town of Huaraz. There are plenty of peaks over 5,000m and an incredible 33 peaks over 6,000m including Huascaran which at 6,768m is Peru's highest peak. The more remote Cordillera Huayhuash is 4 hours by bus from Huaraz and has 7 summits over 6,000m, the highest of which is Yerupaja at 6,634m. In Arequipa, the most popular climb is El Misti, a snow-capped volcano that dominates the city. This 5,825m high climb can be undertaken in 2 days and does not require any previous mountaineering experience. |
Rafting: Peru has some of the best whitewater rivers in the world and along the way you'll encounter some spectacular scenery as the Andes plunge down into the lush canyons of the Upper Amazon.

| Trekking: The Peruvian Andes are among the most spectacular mountains on earth. Rising to well over 6000 metres (19000 feet), the peaks are divided into a number of ranges, or cordillera, and provide limitless scope for fantastic trekking adventures. Alongside a stunning variety of geography, landform and climate, Peru also boasts the peerless archaeological remains of the Incas. Machu Picchu, the ancient Lost City of the Incas, is featured on all our trips to the Cordillera Vilcabamba, while our trips in the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash can easily be extended to include an unforgettable visit to what is surely one of the greatest wonders of the world. |
Mountain Biking: Mountain Biking is a relatively new sport in Peru, but new routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent opportunities. Although thousands of miles of trails and dirt tracks exist. |
| Birdwatching: Peru is home to some 1780 species of bird (18.5% of all the bird species in the world and 45% of all neotropical birds). There are 125 true endemic birds. The political violence of the 80´s and the beginning of the 90´s has come to an end now. A birding trip is possible during any month as birds breed all year round. |
| Surfing Peru is one of the world's internationally renowned surfing destination, throughout the year, plenty of action can be found on the waves, point break left and right reef break and waves of up to six metres can all be found during the seasons. The biggest of these waves is at Pico Alto and the best month is May and the largest break is over 800 metres near Trujillo with over 30 of the top beaches to choose from and many international competition, Peru has to be one of the world's hottest surfing destinations. |
Handgliding • Paragliding This sport is now becoming increasingly popular in Peru; the reason for this becomes obvious when you consider the immensity of the landscapes. For the novice the coastal cliffs offer the easiest thermals and slowly you can make your way up into the Andes gaining experience of different altitudes. For the more experienced and adventurous nothing can really compare the thrill of flying at over 6,000 metres in front of the glaciers of Huascaran. |

Sand boards are provided as part of this excursion and this exciting new activity can be great fun. |
