Macal River tour with Panti Medicinal Trails & Cahal Pech Maya Site
Tour Morning departure for a scenic ride through the Farms and Villages
of Belize Western Highway to board your motorized canoe up river for
a tour of the Macal River en route to the Panti Medicinal Trail (there is a
bounty of wildlife to observe). Along the high limestone cliffs of the Macal River of the Belize River , you look for parrots, toucans and iguanas, as they hang from
the trees along the river banks.
The Panti Medicinal Trail begins at Ix Chel
Farm. Learn the healing powers of its herbs and trees, like the cocolmecca
plant (wild yam) which the American Academy of Sciences estimates
will yield 17 new medicines in the next decade. After lunch you are on
your way to Cahal Pech Maya Site and your final destination. At Cahal
Pech Maya Site your tour guide will show you a small archaeological
site with corbel arch rooms dating back to 1000BC.
