DAY 1: Guatemala City- Arrival at the Guatemala City airport, transfer to your hotel. Overnight Guatemala city.
DAY 2: Antigua - After breakfast transfer to Antigua Guatemala. The earlier colonial capital of Central America was founded in 1543. We will visit the Main Square, the Monastery of Capuchins, the Churches of La Merced and San Francisco, the music museum Kojom, palace of the Captains Generals, the Cathedral and other buildings and colonial spots. Overnight in Antigua Guatemala.
DAY 3:
Chichicastenango - Lago Atitlan - Panajachel
- After breakfast, departure toward the inner highlands in Chichicastenango. We will tour the famous open air market (held every Thursday and Sunday), where colorful native handicrafts of the region are for sale. Enter the 400 year old church of Santo Tomas, where catholic and pagan rites take place in a mystical atmosphere. In the afternoon we continue toward Lake Atitlan, to admire one of the most beautiful scenarios in the world. Overnight in Panajachel.
DAY 4: Santiago Atitlan - Quetzaltenango - Early in the morning we will take a boat ride to the Tzutuhil town of Santiago Atitlan. This small towm still keeps the Mayan traditions and culture. We will visit the local market the town's church before boarding our boat that brings us back to Panajachel. From here we continue toward Quetzaltenango. En route visit the famous church of San Andres Xecul. Overnight in Quetzaltenango.
DAY 5: Almolonga and Zunil - Georginas - St. Lucia Cotzumalguapa - Today we will visit the indigenous towns of Almolonga and Zunil very famous for the its vegetables and flowers. Before we leave we will take a bath in the hot springs (45°C) of Fuentes Georginas, natural bath in a gorgeous atmosphere. We continue through the pacific side to Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa passing through a big coffee and sugar cane plantations. Overnight in Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa.
DAY 6: Motagua Valley - Copán Ruinas/Honduras - Departure from Santa Lucia driving down through the Motagua valley towards Honduras. En route we will pass the states of El Progreso and Zacapa in Guatemala. Short stop in Rio Hondo to stretch and to purchase refreshments. After customs formalities transfer to Copan located only 14 km from the border. Overnight in Copan.
DAY 7: Copán Ruinas - Today we will visit the legendary archaeological park of Copán which consists of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchers. Enjoy the impressive 63 step stairway with over 2`500 hieroglyphs and the masterfully carved steleas. In the afternoon we will visit Las Sepulturas as a residential and burial site of the noble Mayan. Overnight in Copan.
DAY 8: Lago de Yojoa - Driving through one of the most fascinating landscapes of Honduras today we will reach the Yojoa Lake a natural lake surrounded by impressive mountains, standing out Santa Barbara mountain. Once at the lake we take an exploring walk in the surroundings of the hotel We will board a launch and cross the lake to its western shore. In the afternoon leisure time to enjoy the pool in your hotel. Overnight at the Lake Yojoa.
DAY 9: Pulhapanzak - Tela -Early in the morning we will take a walk for birdwatching. The Yojoa Lake attracts the greatest concentration of birds in the country. About 450 of 700 species registered in Honduras live around this lake. Then we will visit Pulhapanzak water fall the most impressive one in the country. We continue our trip through diverse sceneries to the Carribbean coast where the former banana capital Tela is awaiting us with its charming beaches and Garifuna culture. Leisure time in the afternoon to enjoy the afro-Caribbean spirit and the palm fringed dream coast. Overnight in Tela.
DAY 10: Lancetilla Botanical Garden - Tela - Waking up with the birds we visit Central America's greatest botanical Garden. The former experimental site for tropical plants from all over the world. 1976 the United Fruit Company handed over the Garden to the Honduran government. A delightful walk through over 1000 colourful plants in different shapes will enlighten our souls in conjunction with the many bird species like parrots, toucans, trogans, tanagers, orioles and motmots that are seen regularly. In the afternoon we enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere by a bath in the refreshing ocean or in the shade swinging ina hammock. Overnight in Tela.
DAY 11 - 13: Tela - These days (without tour guide) are kept free for you to explore Tela, the representation of the Honduran sereneness. Here you have the opportunity to relax and study. Experience the diverse tropical environments just in front of your doorstep and get in touch with the Garifunas. Garifunas are afro-Caribbeans that still maintain their rich culture from Africa in dances, songs, beliefs and culinary specialties. The Tela Railroad Company, owner of the Chiquita brand, where based in this town before they moved to La Lima, close to San Pedro Sula and so loads of contemporary witnesses are found. The abundant fauna in the wildlife reserve Punta Izopo, the rainforest with its laid back beaches or the mangroves in the lagoon of Los Micos are all recommended to spend excellent day. We will be happy to organize these optional activities for you. Overnight in Tela.
DAY 14: San Pedro Sula - Today we end our experience in these beautiful Central American countries and drive towards San Pedro Sula on time to connect to your international departure flight.
