Kumanii: The Chocó Rain Forest

Kumanii (is a native term for friend) is a community based ecotourism. The lodge is located in the Chocó Rainforest in the Northern Province of Esmeraldas in the buffer zone of the Cotacahi – Cayapas Ecological Reserve (an area with enormous biodiversity). This area is inhabited by Afro – Ecuadorian and Chachis indigenous communities.
This experience combines daily activities and ecotourism (hiking, bird watching, canoe rides) and coexistence (dances, songs, handicrafts, etc.), sharing with the local people its customs and ways of life . Kumanii is a project that strives to give to these communities an ecological and cultural sustainable life by encouraging them to host eco tourist trips to protect the forest.
