NIGHT LIFE IN CHILE

     The city has a fair amount of bars and pubs, plus a few discos, which we recommend only if you like to hang out with teenagers and listen to bad techno music. One of the most popular pubs for all ages is in the La Taberna cellar bar, below the Hotel José Nogueira at the corner of Bories and Sequel across from the plaza; appetizers are available. Another popular spot is the Pub 1900 at the corner of Avenida Colón and Bories; yet another pub is the El Galeón at Av. 21 de Mayo 1243, below the Hotel Isla Rey Jorge. If you just can't get enough karaoke, head to El Coral, Bories 817, which also serves food. The Cabo de Hornos Hotel , on the plaza, has a 1960s-chic bar with abstract paintings and pinhole lights. The cinema Commercial Cine Magallanes, at Plaza Muñoz Gamero 765 across from the tourism kiosk at the plaza, has one screen; call or check newspaper listings for what's playing.
