| Fortaleza, capital of the State of Ceara, has its perennial sunshine and sensual beach life style, but it also has a special inner-city rhythm. At the far end of the beach the "jangada" fishermen land their rafts every afternoon and unload the day's catch. The closest good swimming is at the "Praia do Futuro" and farther south is the fishing village and weekend resort of Prainha. The sweetest swimming within a reasonable distance is to the north, in Cambuco. The more remote beaches, like Jericoacoara, are many hours to the north. |
