Kapenke El Calafate hotel Argentina PatagoniaThis hotel is a good option for moderately priced lodging in El Calafate. The Kapenke underwent a minor renovation in 2000, installing new wallpaper and, in the hallway, lemon-yellow paint. The bathrooms are cramped, but the rooms are decently sized and come with a large chest of drawers and comfortable beds -- ask for a room on the second floor, as they are brighter. Apart from a few corner sitting areas spread about each floor, there is a large lounge with lots of padded wooden chairs. The staff isn't as energetic or as helpful as one would hope.
